Here is the sermon by guest speaker Richard Stiffler from the Cathedral of Praise Christian Center filling in while Pastor Robert and Lana were on vacation.
Guest speaker Pastor Rich Stiffler from the Cathedral of Praise Christian Center shared insights from Zacchaeus’ meeting with Jesus titled ” Out on a Limb”.
The following people were elected at the annual church business meeting held on Sabbath, January 3, 2015:
Each of these people are elected for a one year term, with the exception of the Trustees who are elected for a 3 year term with 2 new trustees elected each year. Throughout the year, the church (advisory) board consists of the first 7 officers along with the Pastor, a representative from the Deacons, and a representative from the Trustees. Thanks to all those who held these positions in 2014 as well as those who have agreed to fill them in 2015!
Pastor Robert’s sermon with emphasis on the wisemen visiting the child Jesus was based on Matthew 2:1-12. Following the sermon, quarterly communion was observed.
Instead of a sermon on this Sabbath, we had scripture readings of the Christmas Story, sang several Christmas Carols, and had some special sharing from the Sabbath School classes (see the bulletin for more details). Here’s a picture of the kids lighting the fourth advent candle. You may also want to watch the short video by the Preschool Sabbath School class posted as a news item on this website.
The sermon is based on the scripture reading from Matthew 13:44:
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a
man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he
had and bought that field.”
