3/1/2014 sermon by Pastor Robert
Guest speaker Glen Gram shares from Matthew 5:38-48 how to love people God’s way. The title “Perfect Love” comes from verse 48 which says “You shall be perfect even as your Father is perfect.”
This week’s sermon is about how God, our Father teaches and trains us. It is based on the scripture in Deuteronomy 4:9 which says “Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.”
Second in a series of sermons on what Seventh Day Baptists believe and why. Pastor Robert talked about many attributes of God using the attached sermon&study guide.

Tim Lawton from our church will be spending this summer touring the eastern United States with the Stained Glass musical group. Tim will be traveling with 6 other young adults (Gabriela Alonzo, Jennifer Brown, Karissa St. Clair, Khalen Greene, Logan LaGesse, Nathan Crowder) providing sound system support and occasionally percussion as needed. Stained Glass is a part of the Summer Christian Service Corps (SCSC) ministry of the Seventh Day Baptist Women’s Society. When asked how he got interested in Stained Glass, Tim said, “I’d always wanted to do SCSC and found they needed a sound guy and it sounded like a perfect match.” It has been a great match and this will be Tim’s fourth summer in Stained Glass! Tim has traveled with the singing group all across the US and visited many Seventh Day Baptist churches, but have yet to get to the churches in Florida and Toronto.

When asked what important things he has learned as part of Stained Glass, Tim said “it’s not about us individually, or even the band as a group…it’s about God.” So what are Tim’s thoughts as he finishes out the school year as an engineering student at Cedarville University? He said, “I’m looking forward to this summer because we’ve got almost a completely different band and a different sound – but it will be an awesome summer and God will still do stuff like he always does!”
Pastor Robert began a series of sermons on what Seventh Day Baptists believe and why. This week’s scripture is 2 Timothy 2:15.
