2019 Church Officers Elected
The 2019 church officers were elected at the Annual Business Meeting held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 as follows:
President: Darwin Van Horn
Vice President: Christopher Van Horn
Clerk: Susie Fox
Treasurer: Chip Thorngate
Corporate Agent: Jamie Patterson
Sabbath School Superintendent: Robert & Lana Van Horn
Assistant SS Superintendent: Kym Goodson (not pictured)
(Also not pictured, Trustees Becky Van Horn & Dean Fox were re-elected for 3 year terms and Johnny Long was elected to fill the remaining Trustee term for Mark Pest.)
Some other items also included in the January 27 business meeting were approving a 2019 budget, agreeing to request an SCSC team for this summer, appointment of a Pastoral Search Committee due to Pastor Robert’s announcement to retire this fall, choosing recipients for the quarterly mission offerings, and a deciding to sponsor a banner for the local Licking Heights High School field.
Kids Bible Club on February 2, 2019
After being cancelled due to snow in January, we are really looking forward to our monthly Kids Bible Club on Saturday night, Feb 2, 2019 from 6:30-8:00pm. We will have lots of fun around a snow theme of “Jesus Loves You SNOW Much!”. Plans for the evening include songs, a skit, crafts, Bible story, games, refreshments and lots of fun!
All kids ages 3-12 are invited and transportation is available if needed. Give the church a call at 740-927-0574 to request a ride or if you have any questions.
(If you miss this month, you can join us next month for Kids Bible Club on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Kids Bible Club is held on the first Saturday evening of each month from 6:30-8:00pm.)
God’s Way in Conflict
New SDB Church in North Carolina
The Good News Seventh Day Baptist Church is one of the newest SDB groups. Located near Raleigh, NC. They began meeting in homes about a year ago and have been meeting at The Pointe Church in Apex, NC since last September.
This church group is a church-plant from the Shepherd’s Fold Seventh Day Baptist Church in Johnson City, TN which is located about 4 1/2 hours away.
In June 2018, at their annual meeting, the SDB Appalachian Association voted to provide some funding to this new group. Our church, Pataskala Seventh Day Baptist, has designated our Building Up the Temple mission offering for Jan-Mar for the Good News SDB Church to help with promotion, rent, materials, etc.
