October 30-31, 2015 was an active and fun-filled time as the church held a mini-retreat. Activities started Friday evening with a cookout followed by a time for singing & games around the outside campfire. We then headed inside for a short vesper (worship) service to welcome the Sabbath and held our first learning session introducing the book of Zechariah.
After some snacks and good-byes, people left for home Friday night around 9pm, only to return at 9am the next morning for a delicious breakfast consisting of pancakes, bacon, sausage, biscuits & sausage gravy, cheesy scrambled eggs, juice and coffee. Following breakfast we had 2 sessions on Zechariah, looking at chapters 1-3 first and then chapters 4-6. For lunch we had a fellowship (potluck) meal with some extended time for those who wanted to rest or visit further.
At 3:30, we gathered for the next installment of Zechariah looking at chapters 7-10. Following this study time, we tried something different and divided into 3 different groups to make some decorative banners. Glue, scissors, felt, braid, and ideas were tossed around as banners began to take shape. After a yummy soup and sub supper, we tackled chapters 11-14 of Zechariah. Although some parts of Zechariah weren’t completely clear, we all learned a lot more about this book in the Bible and discovered many “endless Biblical truths” still applicable today.
The weekend finished up with another vesper worship service led by the Chris & Veronica Van Horn family and more games and singing in the Bond Fellowship Hall. Throughout the weekend we enjoyed time to visit with our church family, some great food, helpful Bible teaching, and lots of fun with each other!
