An energetic group of people met on Saturday night, February 26, 2022 at the church for a Lip Sync Battle Family Night (and Ice Cream!). We had around a dozen creative and fun groups and individuals lip syncing to a variety of music videos projected on the wall. The pre-selected panel of judges had a tough time choosing winners with the criteria of syncing believability, song choice amazingness, and pizzazz.

After a break for ice cream sundaes and birthday cake (Happy Bday, Jessica, with a beautiful and delicious cake from Cora’s Confections), the judges conferred and the winners were announced. It was hard to choose between so many great acts!
Starting with third place Cora and Elias P. won with their lip sync to “The Cuppycake Song”. The judges were all charmed with their performance.

In second place was Dave P. with his lip sync of an oldie but goodie “She wore an Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and had the whole room singing along with him. Thanks for reminding us of that song, Dave, now we can’t get it out of our heads!

And first place went to Pastor Chuck and Jessica lip syncing to “Love is an Open Door”. They were one of two couples choosing that song and giving great performances. We find our Pastor and his wife certainly have a flair for the dramatic as well as love for each other!

Check out some other pictures of the acts in the slideshow below. A big thank you to all who were judges, all the performers, and for the enthusiastic and appreciative audience!

Our church said “Thank You!” to our two Summer Dedicated Service workers, Vanessa Ormsby and Collin Green, on Sabbath July 20, 2019. Due to the efforts of these two college age people, along with their Project Director Susie Fox, our church has been able to complete three Kids Bible Clubs at
During the summer Vanessa & Collin also volunteered on Tuesdays & Thursdays at
Vanessa is visiting from Toronto, Ontario, Canada where her home church is located and she will resume her studies in college this fall. Collin is visiting from Milton, Wisconsin where his home church is located and where he also is continuing his college studies not far from there this fall. They are working under Seventh Day Baptist program called Summer Christian Service Corps (SCSC) which is a leadership program for college age students during the summer among selected Seventh Day Baptist churches.
We had a fun time ending each day with a Kids Bible Club (think outside Vacation Bible School!) at JFK Park in Reynoldsburg. Each evening started & ended with a skit featuring a gold-seeking pirate named Pete and a delightful and encouraging fairy named Truly Bell. Teacher Mary also showed up along with a variety of other characters who Pirate Pete managed to involve helping him follow treasure clues. The skit was followed by Bible Lessons concerning heavenly vs. earthly treasures, real vs. fake treasures, listening to God’s voice, making wise choices, and keeping material treasures in balance with other treasures. We also had a craft project, games, and a snack each day!
This was the second time using this material called The Great Treasure Hunt. We also had a Kids Bible Club in the mornings June 24-28, 2019 at Summit Ridge in Pataskala. A third Bible Club using different materials “God’s Love in Colors” will be held each morning July 15-19, 2019 at the
“Jesus Loves You SNOW Much!” was the theme for the Kids Bible Club held the evening of February 2, 2019. The Bible lesson for the evening was about how God created the world and everything in it — including snowflakes! We learned that like snowflakes, God created us each different and beautiful.
After the introduction all together with a “Miss Snowflake Pageant” skit and singing the action song “God’s Love is Big” the group separated into older and younger classes for the Bible lesson and crafts. The younger group made pictures using snowflake stamps and paint while the older class painted snowflake suncatchers.
“snowball” (cotton balls!) games: a relay carrying snowballs on spoons, seeing who could blow the snowball the closest to the edge of the table without going off, and an indoor snowball fight!
