Camp Joy Pre-Camp 2018

Coming up on May 19-20, 2018 at Camp Joy in Berea, WV will be a unique overnight experience for children getting ready for their first year attending camp.  Pre-Camp is a brief weekend intended to give an introduction to church camp.  Hopefully children will have less anxiety about being away from home for camp and be enthusiastically looking forward to camp after this weekend.

Registration will be held 1-2 pm Saturday afternoon May 19th and the weekend activities will conclude at 1:00 pm on Sunday afternoon.  Attendees should fill out and bring the regular Camp Joy Registration Form available below or at the Camp Joy Website.  Activities for the weekend will include: lesson time, games, vespers, campfire, flag ceremony, craft, free play, and introduction to canoeing (weather permitting).

While mainly intended for grades 1-2, any child that has not attended camp previously will be welcomed.  You are asked to let the director know if an older child is coming so they can plan how to make them fit in and feel a part of the weekend.

In the same way, if there is an adult coming a long distance and needs to stay overnight at the camp, we can accommodate that, but would like to know ahead of time so the director can plan for them (and maybe put them to work if they are willing).

Interested people should contact the pastor at one of the Appalachian Association SDB churches no later than May 12th.  This is especially important for the cooks.  Also advise if you have a camper with special dietary needs due to allergies.

There is a cost of $5.00 per attendee.

For more information and directions to Camp Joy, see the Camp Joy website at CampJoyWV.org.
