2016 Mission Offering

Our Mission Offering is designated to a different recipient each quarter

Each Sabbath we have a time in our worship service where we encourage children (and adults) to bring their spare change to contribute to our Mission Offering.  You’ll hear the congregation singing the song “Building Up the Temple” as the offering is collected in a small wooden house-like container.

The Mission Offering does not replace regular Biblical tithing and giving which is collected in an offering plate located at the back of the sanctuary as people enter.  The regular church offering is used to support the church programs and facilities (building mortgage, pastor’s salary, church supplies, building maintenance, classroom materials, etc.)  The Mission Offering is designated to a mission project outside of our church and the recipients are discussed and selected in advance at our church business meetings.

Egg-stravaganza Egg Hunt on March 26th

eggs

Lots of children, lots of filled eggs, plenty of sunshine, and plenty of laughter made the perfect combination for our church’s first ever EGG-STRAVAGANZA Egg Hunt held on Sabbath afternoon, March 26, 2016 starting at 2:00 pm.

There were separate areas set up in the open field behind the church for each of three different age groups:  0-3 years old, 4-7 years old, and 8-12 years old.  So each age group had it’s own area and eggs to hunt.

The weather cooperated and it was a beautiful sunny spring afternoon as the children had a blast collecting the many different colored eggs filled with toys and candy scattered across the field — and the adults were thoroughly entertained watching and helping them.   Here are some pictures of the the fun & excitement!

RETREAT = Food, Fun, Worship & Zechariah!

retreat 1October 30-31, 2015 was an active and fun-filled time as the church held a mini-retreat.  Activities started Friday evening with a cookout followed by a time for singing & games around the outside campfire.  We then headed inside for a short vesper (worship) service to welcome the Sabbath and held our first learning session introducing the book of Zechariah.

retreat 3After some snacks and good-byes, people left for home Friday night around 9pm, only to return at 9am the next morning for a delicious breakfast consisting of pancakes, bacon, sausage, biscuits & sausage gravy, cheesy scrambled eggs, juice and coffee.   Following breakfast we had 2 sessions on Zechariah, looking at chapters 1-3  first and then chapters 4-6.   For lunch we had a fellowship (potluck) meal with some extended time for those who wanted to rest or visit further.

retreat 5At 3:30, we gathered for the next installment of Zechariah looking at chapters 7-10.  Following this study time, we tried something different and divided into 3 different groups to make some decorative banners.   Glue, scissors, felt, braid, and ideas were tossed around as banners began to take shape.   After a yummy soup and sub supper, we tackled chapters 11-14 of Zechariah.  Although some parts of Zechariah weren’t completely clear, we all learned a lot more about this book in the Bible and discovered many “endless Biblical truths” still applicable today.retreat 7

The weekend finished up with another vesper worship service led by the Chris & Veronica Van Horn family and more games and singing in the Bond Fellowship Hall.   Throughout the weekend we enjoyed time to visit with our church family, some great food, helpful Bible teaching, and lots of fun with each other!

Parents Night Out Held August 8, 2015

Parents-Night-Out

There was lots of fun at the church on Saturday evening, August 8th, as we held our first Parent’s Night Out with six children ages 1 to 9.   The evening started about 5:30 with a light supper followed by some play time outside.   Then we had fun with puppets as Pastor Robert shared the story of Hoppity Rabbit and several of the children entertained us with their own impromptu puppet shows.   The older and younger children split up for a while with the older children working on playdough creations and crafts while the younger children enjoyed free play with the toys in the nursery.   Then we all joined together again for a snack and watched a VeggieTales video.   The evening ended as parents came to pick up their children around 9:00 pm.   Watch our church FaceBook page and the weekly church bulletin for information on the next scheduled Parent’s Night Out!
